At Te Aroha in New Zealand, former Haunui Farm stallion Elusive City (Elusive Qality-Star Of Paris, by Dayjur) celebrated an elite success when 4YO mare Perfect Fit (Elusive City-Fayreform, by Tights) scored by a neck for trainers Ken & Bev Kelso in the NZ$200,000 Gr1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1600m) for 3YO+, over 6YO mare Abidewithme (Redoute's Choice-Crimson, by Zabeel) & 5YO mare Soubrettes (High Chaparral-Burlesque, by Thorn Park). Perfect Fit, who is out of the three-time Gr1-winning mare Fayreform, took her record to 6 wins (including the Gr2 Westbury Classic) and 4 placings from 11 starts for $268,500 earnings. "She has got a fabulous temperament and does everything right, she's a very good mover and it's just a dream to have her," Ken Kelso told NZ Racing Desk. "She was a bit weak and fragile early on, but we've got very good owners who were patient and this has been a good team effort." Kelso indicated that Perfect Fit may be aimed at the winter carnival in Brisbane.
