At Morphettville in Adelaide, Arrowfield Stud's multiple Champion Australian Sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) celebrated an elite success when high class 3YO filly Abbey Marie (Redoute's Choice (AUS) 1996 out of Catshaan (AUS) 1999, by Catrail) scored by 0.4-length for trainer Mick Kent in the $400,000 Gr1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow 3YO fillies Silent Sedition (War Chant-Fiorentina, by Dubai Destination) & C'Est Beau la Vie (Bernardini-Valkyrie Diva, by Jade Robbery). The beautifully bred Abbey Marie, who marked herself as one of the most exciting horses in the country in claiming her first Gr1 victory at just her third career start, extended her unbeaten record to 3 wins from 3 starts for $315,870 earnings. The daughter of Redoute's Choice and Catshaan emulated the classic success of her full-sister Absolutely whom Kent trained to win the Gr1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Royal Randwick in 2011. "I was really happy with her and the trip didn't worry me, but she's just having her third start - it was really hard to line her form up," Kent told Racing.com. "She's just a beautiful, relaxed filly and she's coped with the prep. She walked around the mounting yard here like an old timer." Kent said Abbey Marie would be sent for a spell and be set for the Gr1 Myer Classic in the spring. Bred by Arrowfield Stud, Abbey Marie was a $300,000 purchase by Dermot Farrington Bloodstock at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. She and Absolutely descend from a prolific Gr1-producing family that includes Indian Rose, Kinshasa No Kiseki, Plumania and successful sire Groom Dancer.
