At Doomben in Brisbane, Woodside Park's Gr2-winning stallion Written Tycoon (Iglesias-Party Miss, by Kenmare) celebrated an elite success when 4YO gelding Music Magnate (Written Tycoon-Concert Girl, by Danehill Dancer) scored by 0.8-length for trainer Bjorn Baker in the $750,000 Gr1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) for 3YO+, over 4YO mare Azkadellia (Shinko King-Raving, by Centaine) & 5YO gelding Charlie Boy (Myboycharlie-Maritime, by Falbrav). A NZ$45,000 yearling consigned by Westbury Stud at the 2013 NZB National Yearling Sales Series, Music Magnate improved his record to 6 wins (including the Gr3 Hall Mark Stakes) and 5 placings (including the Listed Luskin Star Stakes & Listed Darby Munro Stakes) from 12 starts for $825,125 earnings. The victory represented a special milestone for Bjorn Baker, with Music Magnate providing the young trainer with his first Gr1 winner. "The team has been enjoying terrific success but the thing we had been missing was that Group 1 win," Baker said. "Queensland has been a happy hunting ground for myself, having won the Magic Millions up here with Unencumbered." He added: "This is a great feeling, it is a huge thrill to get the monkey off my back." Music Magnate becomes the third Gr1 winner this season for his sire Written Tycoon following the wins of Capitalist in the Golden Slipper and Luna Rossa in the Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes in New Zealand. "I love the Written Tycoon's," Baker said. "Anyone who has a Written Tycoon out there please get in touch...I'm always looking for more." Music Magnate is now likely to head to the $1.5 million Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on 11 June.
