Brisbane's Eagle Farm on Saturday provided Vinery shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo-Woodman's Girl, by Woodman) with yet another Gr1 victory when promising local gelding Eagle Way (More Than Ready-Wedgetail Eagle, by Lure) scored a determined 1.8-length victory for trainer Bryan Guy in the $600,000 Gr1 Queensland Derby (2400m) for 3YOs, over the gelding Rodrico (High Chaparral-Truly a Beauty, by Seeking The Gold) & the colt I'm Belucci (Captain Sonador-Sovereign Red, by St Jude). An improving type who was runner-up last start in the Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes, Eagle Way took his record to 4 wins & 2 placings (including last start's 2nd placing in the Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes) from 12 starts for $517,750 earnings. Eagle Way was a $200,000 weanling purchase by George Moore Bloodstock from the draft of Segenhoe Stud at 2014's Inglis Australian Weanling Sale. He is a half-brother to the stakes-winners Assertive Eagle, Impressive Eagle & Soaressa, herself the dam of dual Gr3 winner Thermal Current.
