At Flemington in Melbourne, Cambridge Stud's recently deceased multiple Champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) added yet another Gr1 triumph to his impeccable CV when 4YO entire Preferment (Zabeel-Better Alternative, by Flying Spur) scored by a short-head for trainer Chris Waller in the $500,000 Gr1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) for 4YO+, over ultra-consistent 6YO mare Royal Descent (Redoute's Choice-Mulan Princess, by Kaapstad) & 4YO mare Set Square (Reset-Dynastar, by Zeditave). Second last turning for home, Preferment looked to be travelling sweetly 500m from the finish when hooked out wide, and finished with a flourish to snare his second Gr1 victory. Preferment, who was purchased by Chris Waller Racing for $190,000 at the 2013 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Cambridge Stud, took his record to 3 wins (including the Gr1 Victoria Derby & last start's G2 Hill Stakes) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas & Listed Geelong Classic) from 14 starts for $1,503,405 earnings.
