At Caulfield in Melbourne, Darley's deceased shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) celebrated a Gr1 success when beautifully bred 3YO filly Stay With Me (Street Cry-Miss Finland, by Redoute's Choice) scored by 1.75-lengths for trainers David Hayes & Tom Dabernig in the $500,000 Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow 3YO fillies Jameka (Myboycharlie-Mine Game, by General Nediym) & Badawiya (Al Maher-Sayuri San, by Fuji Kiseki). This was the first Gr1 victory for Arrowfield Stud-bred and owned Stay With Me, who emulated the Thousand Guineas victory of her champion mum Miss Finland in 2006. Stay With Me took her record to 3 wins (including the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes) and 1 placing (the Listed Talindert Stakes) from 6 starts for $419,250 earnings. Co-trainer David Hayes nominated races such as the Gr1 Myer Classic and Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes as likely future spring targets for Stay With Me. "I think she's gone from the best-bred filly to one of the best fillies in Australia," co-trainer David Hayes told Racing.com. "We'll have a meeting and see how she pulls up but I purposely left her out of the Cox Plate not to tumble into that," he said. "We've got races like the Myer, the Wakeful and the Mackinnon to look at. Maybe we could go for the Oaks but my gut feel is to keep her over shorter distances during the spring."
