At Flemington in Melbourne, Darley's unbeaten multiple Gr1-winning stallion Reset (Zabeel-Assertive Lass, by Zeditave) celebrated a Gr1 success when 8YO gelding Fawkner (Reset-Dane Belltar, by Danewin) scored by 0.2-length for trainer Robert Hickmott in the $400,000 Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) for 3YO+, over 5YO mare Rising Romance (Ekraar-Post Romance, by Postponed) & 6YO gelding Entirely Platinum (Pentire-Platinum Blond, by Kaapstad). Fawkner, who was a $70,000 purchase at the 2009 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Mill Park, took his record to 11 wins (including the Gr1 Caulfield Cup, Gr1 Caulfield Stakes, Gr3 Stakes, Listed Headquarters Tavern Stakes & Listed Sofitel Stakes) & 8 placings (including the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes, Gr1 Turnbull Stakes, Gr1 Emirates Stakes & Gr1 William Reid Stakes) from 27 starts for $3,674,751 earnings. Co-owner Nick Williams said Fawkner would bid to defend his title in the Gr1 Caulfield Stakes next month, before heading to the Cox Plate on 24 October.
