At Royal Randwick in Sydney, Darley's deceased Gr3-winning & multiple Gr1-placed stallion Commands (Danehill-Cotehele House, by My Swanee) celebrated an elite Gr1 success when 3YO colt Holler (Commands-Shouts, by Strategic) scored by 1.3-lengths for trainer John O'Shea in the $500,000 Gr1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) for 3YO+, over 4YO mare First Seal (Fastnet Rock-Episode, by Scenic) & 4YO entire Kermadec (Teofilo-Hy Fuji, by Fuji Kiseki). The Godolphin-owned and bred Holler took his record to 4 wins (including the Gr2 Australia Stakes & Gr3 Telstra Phonewords Stakes) and 4 placings (including the Gr2 ATC Run to the Rose) from 10 starts for $658,625 earnings. Holler is out of the Woodlands Stud bred mare Shouts (Strategic), a half-sister to three-time Gr1 winner Yell. This is also the family of Gr1 Castlemaine QTC Classic (now JJ Atkins Stakes) winner Anthems, stakes winner Vocalist and Gr2 ATC Hill Stakes winner Lamasery. O'Shea said post-race that Holler was likely to head to Melbourne for the Gr1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) on 24 March. "I think we will send him back to Melbourne," O'Shea said. "He loves the Valley and he can go back there in the William Reid."
