At Royal Randwick in Sydney, Arrowfield Stud's - and soon to be Geisel Park Stud's - Gr1 Emirates Stakes winning stallion All American (Red Ransom-Milva, by Strawberry Road) celebrated an elite success when 2YO filly Yankee Rose (All American-Condesaar, by Xaar) scored a brilliant 2.5-length win in the $1 million Gr1 Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) for 2YOs, over 2YO colt Telperion (Street Cry-Yavanna, by Redoute's Choice) & fellow 2YO filly Faraway Town (Not a Single Doubt-London Calling, by Dehere). Yankee Rose built upon her terrific second in the Golden Slipper two weeks ago to boost her record to 3 wins and 1 placing (in the Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes) from 4 starts for $1,511,700 earnings. For trainer David Vandyke, Yankee Roses' win represented a very special milestone indeed with the horseman celebrating his very first Gr1 winner. "It's through a power greater than myself that I've gotten here today," he told "I've been trying to win that Group 1 for 29 years - I've had probably 30 runners - but to just win that race like that today I just can't describe how I'm feeling at the moment. I'm still numb." He added: "I can't believe I've actually won a Group 1 and to win one at Randwick, I started working here when I was a teenager and this track means so much to me." Purchased for just $10,000 by Darby Racing at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Widden Stud, Yankee Rose is out of half-sister to New Zealand Derby winner Redoute's Dancer and hails from the prolific Classic-producing family of Yorkshire Oaks winner Condessa, Irish Oaks winner Silken Glider and English Oaks winner Godiva. Yankee Rose's next target is the Gr1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 16 April.
