At Caulfield in Melbourne on Saturday, Vinery's Gr1-winning stallion Myboycharlie (Danetime-Dulceata, by Rousillon) celebrated an elite success when talented 4YO mare Jameka (Myboycharlie-Mine Game, by General Nediym) scored an easy 3 length win for trainer Ciaron Maher in the $3 million Gr1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) for 3YO+, over 5YO Irish-bred gelding Scottish (Teofilo-Zeiting, by Zieten) & 5YO UK-bred entire Exospheric (Beat Hollow-Bright and Clear, by Danehill). A $130,000 yearling consigned by Gilgai Farm at the 2014 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, Jameka improved her record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 VRC Oaks, Gr2 Dilmah Vase, Gr2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes & Gr3 Naturalism Stakes) and 8 placings (including the Gr1 VRC Turnbull Stakes, Gr1 Australian Derby, Gr1 Rosehill Guineas, Gr1 Thousand Guineas, Gr2 Thousand Guineas Prelude & Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes) from 19 starts for $3,670,725 earnings. Such was the dominant nature of her win, that Jameka has firmed into equal $5 favouritism with Hartnell for next month's Gr1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington. "I'm absolutely thrilled. This is basically our backyard...so there's nothing better than winning a Caulfield Cup," trainer Ciaron Maher told racing.com. "She has just been an outstanding horse...and this prep she has gone to another level." He added: "She has improved every start leading into this race, and I think she can improve again. I'm happy to step her up to the two miles now [of the Melbourne Cup]."
