At Riccarton Park in New Zealand, Coolmore Stud stallion and former Australian Champion Racehorse So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) sired his first Gr1 winner when 3YO filly La Diosa (So You Think-Star Affair, by Star Way) scored by 1.5 lengths for trainers Mandy & Matt Brown in the $NZ300,000 Gr1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Bella Gioia (Swiss Ace-Joiya, by Stravinsky) & Sweepstake (Per Incanto-Lottery, by Carnegie). La Diosa advanced her record to 4 wins (including the Listed John Griggs Stakes & Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes) and 1 placing from 6 starts for NZ$253,000 earnings. By former Champion Australian Racehorse So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights), La Diosa is out of Gr2 winning Star Way mare Star Affair and is a half sister to Gr3 AJC Summer Cup winner Solid Billing and dual Listed winner Thy. Star Affair, herself, is a daughter of The Grin and a granddaughter of The Dimple and consequently hails from the same family as NZ 1000 Guineas winner The Jewel and Gr1 Auckland Cup winner Irish Chance. "She's an amazing filly and I'm very grateful to be given the opportunity by Mandy and Matt Brown and the connections," jockey Racha Cuneen told NZ Racing Desk. "The plan was always to get back and run over the top of them. We hit the front early and she got a bit lost, but all credit to the filly – she's a great horse."
