Vinery Stud stallions are always in the headlines, and they will be well represented at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale. Vinery’s Champion Sire More Than Ready has 42 yearlings catalogued across many different drafts and the stud’s young gun All Too Hard will have 33 on offer at the Gold Coast.
A couple of More Than Ready yearlings in Vinery’s own draft worth inspecting include a sister to stakes-winning stallion Better Than Ready (Lot 268) and a colt closely related to G2 Sandown Guineas winner Villermont (Lot 458).
All Too Hard yearlings have been very popular on the Gold Coast selling to $510,000 in 2016 and $600,000 in 2017. He’s sired more winners than any other second-season sire this season and his ground-breaking spring carnival will ensure a groundswell of support for his third crop. Villermont, All Too Hard’s Sandown Guineas winner, will be set for the G1 Australian Guineas and G1 Rosehill Guineas while Flemington stakes winner All Too Huiying will target the G1 Australian Derby following a trip to the Gold Coast for the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy. All Too Hard fillies Warranty and All Too Soon are also aiming for black-type at The Championships while his Kiwi colt Demonetization is one of the early favourites for the G1 NZ Derby.
An All Too Hard colt from stakes winner Dubleanny (Lot 679), and another colt from stakes winner Dirty (Lot 666 – which just screams out for a fun name if you dare) are both must-inspect types, while two fillies from stakes class racemares are the All Too Hard from Mineko (Lot 87) and the filly from Poppet’s Treasure (Lot 187). All Too Hard's filly from Mileyva (Lot 83) is from a strong juvenile family.
Vinery has built up a tremendous strike-rate with its graduates from the Gold Coast. Sunshine Coast sprinter Monsieur Gustave has banked over $536,000 since being knocked down to trainer Darryl Hansen for $34,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions. He booked a ticket to the $1 million Magic Millions Cup after winning the G3 George Moore Stakes at Doomben on December 2.
Recently Magic Millions graduates from Vinery Stud drafts include Gr3 winner Eckstien, Gr3 winner Very Tempting, as well as three year-old stakes horses Cellargirl, and Éclair Sunshine.
Between Vinery Stud’s own draft, and the progeny of their stallions, there is plenty of choice for buyers at 2018's Gold Coast sales extravaganza.
